Once the story of the closure became public and acknowledged by Solaris, I felt it was a done deal.

The state had to give us (the people) a chance to express our case for keeping Muhlenberg open, bu they didn't have to take our demonstations seriously.

Unless we (the people) could have provided a plan that both paid the debt AND showed the potential to turn a buck, Muhlenberg was a done deal.

Sad to see the end result that was obvious since February.

It is my understanding that the Certificate of Need for closure was being prepared even before Muhlenberg was put up for sale in November of 2007. As far as I'm concerned, Solaris had no intention to sell and desires to get rid of a competitor at all costs. This is why we the public still have to keep the pressure on Solaris and the state. Just because the state makes "recommendations" doesn't mean that Solaris will follow through. Experience has shown us that Solaris isn't really known for "cooperation" and they must be help accountable.

This fight is far from over, we've been silent for too long and we've got to put pressure on Governor Corzine. If he can shut the state down over a penny (the increase in sales tax from 6 to 7 percent!) - yes - one penny - then he can keep hospitals from closing. He just signed a bill to exclude casinos from state shutdowns. He's got the power - we've got to keep hounding him!

We've got to keep sending messages to the Governor. Write - "SAVE MUHLENBERG!", include an unused bandaid and mail to the following address:

Governor John Corzine
P.O. BOX 001
Trenton, NJ 08625

Or you can send him a fax:

609-292-3454

Remind him "No Muhlenberg, No Corzine".

We the public have got to let our state representatives know that we mean business and are tired of being ignored!

Viva Muhlenberg!!!
