Muhlenberg Closure: 2nd Appeal filed by POP, Restore Muhlenberg

Independently of the city of Plainfield, POP and Restore Muhlenberg have filed an appeal of the closure of Muhlenberg by Solaris Health System.

Writing in today's Courier, Mark Spivey reports on how POP attorney Bennet Zurofsky's appeal differs from the city's -- alleging a breach of fiduciary responsibilities by the Muhlenberg and Solaris boards.

Please remember that Mr Green and the Plfd mayor both have seats on the board and would have known the details if they read their material AND attended a meeting. Please remember that most of the board members have each contributed tens of thousands of their personal dollars over decades to the hospital and that it was painful for them to see the hospital close. How much have the vocal politicians or the leaders of POP contributed to their constituent's hospital over the years? I find it sad that the activists never were active while efforts were made to keep the hospital alive these past TEN years as the board has done. They should have raised money while the hospital was limping along, not when it dead. The community should be outraged that their politicians were inactive when it mattered most.Be advised that their current actions will only lead to the demise of the next nearest hospital currently available to the voters.I can't wait to hear them explain that to the voters.Stop posturing !
